I have used this on USB drives when you insert them into Windows 7 all it wants to do is format the drive. Good stuff! I'd give it 5 bacon strips if I could! Customer support is very responsive and asked all of my questions - even saving me money by reminding me that I had free upgrades for life, which I did not remember. As I write this, I'm doing a deep scan on a 1TB drive and its taking approximately 3-4 hours to complete, I have a robocopy /mir that wiped out a temp folder for some files I had recovered last week - I should have moved the recovered data - doh! The other nice thing is free upgrades for life. Saving everything from deleted partitions, partially written over partitions, windows corrupted partitions/boot record to name a few. I started on 5.0.1 and am now on v8.8 - One of the best $80 I spent on software (this was 4 or 5 years ago) and I've used it numerous times over the years. Tried a couple of different products, this seemed to do the best.

Oops - Win7 decided it wanted to install on that drive vs internal. I accidently left my original hard drive plugged in to my laptop via USB as I went to do a factory restore of my Win7 machine. This is what I would consider an ass saver. This software is junk and it will ruin your file beyond repair like it did to me. If you want to recover data, use literally anything else. I told them to keep the $80 and that I was going to make my experience well known. They also told me they couldn't help me recover the file because so much time had passed (which was their fault, since they didn't respond to me in October when I contacted them). I checked their policy and actually it did, because a technical issue is within their approved circumstances. They refused to issue a refund, and told me my situation did not fall within their "approved circumstances". I followed up and tweeted at them to make this issue public. I contacted EaseUs immediately when I realized their software didn't work at all. It was able to recover deleted files entirely intact-some from 2012! Unfortunately, since I "recovered" the file I needed using EaseUs, the open source software didn't pick it up. I regret getting involved with them because the next day, my friend used a free open source software on my computer, and it worked. No other software will help you repair them. It actually makes things worse by making the files completely unusable.
I decided to test the software, so I created a new file, deleted it, and then tried to recover it using their software. It could not open at all because it was corrupted. It recovered something with a similar name, but it was completely unusable. I lost an important file and downloaded EaseUs to recover it.
